You are what you eat… Oink Oink

Last week I hit a bit of a foodie jackpot, I was lucky enough to visit not just one of my favourite restaurants but two… a planned visit to The Pig in Brockenhurst, New Forest and a surprise visit to The Pig on the Beach at Studland Bay, Poole.

Now I love eating out, in fact I would say its a bit of a hobby of mine so any opportunity I get to eat nice food, is in my opinion a day well spent. Restaurants trips since having E have unsurprisingly decreased and now it’s most definitely quality not quantity and boy oh boy these visits were most definitely quality… top quality.

The first (and original) Pig is situated in the heart of the New Forest and is countryside chic at its best. Think Hunter wellies by the door, big roaring crackling fires, rustic decor and environment so relaxing you almost want to kick your shoes off and snuggle into the chesterfield sofa with a huge glass of wine and your favourite book. In fact, no one would probably bat an eyelid if you did just that! Its like a home from home (albeit a bit bigger than my own house!)

The Pig on the Beach, whilst also delivering on all of the above, the house itself looks almost dream like (and apparently was built to look like a sandcastle by a very wealthy land owner may moons ago) and the180 degree views across Studland Bay are jaw dropping… so with a deep rooted love for all things coastal, instantly warms the cockles! Plus to top off our visit I was treated to a fabulous, relaxing massage in one of the Potting Sheds. To say I left their floating on cloud 9 would have been true, had I not ate my body weight in Piggy and Fishy bits… so rolled out in a food coma is probably more appropriate!

The Pig hotels pride themselves on their 25 mile menus, whereby all of the produce they serve is either sourced from their gardens (which don’t forget to go and have a nose around whilst there) or within a 25 mile radius of the hotel.

In a nutshell (or seashell) a visit to any of The Pig Hotels is well worth it… The food is sumptuous, the wine delectable and the service impeccable. And don’t forget to round it off with a massage.. I promise you, you wont be disappointed. All I ask next time is… can i stay the night?
