After the craziness of celebrating our first Christmas as a new family, it was time to escape the humdrum of the day to day, pack the car up and head West for a UK staycation.
Now whilst one would have loved a sunshine filled break in the Caribbean, dreaming of what an ideal beach holiday would look like (lounging on the beach, cocktails, reading trashy novels etc) reality was far from what reality would be like with an 8 month old baby in tow! So Cornwall got our vote instead… (Barbados next year?)
Christmas tree down and all packed up, we headed to Trevone; a small village outside Padstow where we arrived at High Tides, our humble abode for the week. It was the first self catered property we have stayed at in Cornwall and boy did it deliver everything we were after (and more).
Five minute walk to the beach… Tick
Country views from the kitchen window… Tick
Spacious and well equipped… Tick
Large living areas for lots of children to play in… Tick
Farm shop a stones throw from the front door selling the most amazing local produce… Tick
Crisp white bed linen and fluffy towels (a big thing for me… makes me feel I am on holiday as opposed to just staying in someones house!)… Tick
Great location to explore Padstow and local beaches… Tick
On arrival we were greeted with everything to make a pot of tea plus freshly baked mince pies and a Christmas tree (which having stripped our own house before we left of all things Christmassy) helped extend that festive feeling for a little while longer.
Location wise, High Tides is perfect… a five minute drive from Padstow and spectacular beaches on your doorstep. The perfect location to explore the beauty of what North Cornwall has to offer.
So with a house to call home for a week… it was time to explore…
